Apparently the color royal blue was invented when King George 3rd (1760 to 1820) challenged clothiers to produce a color suitable for use by Royalty. A miller in Rode produced a very rich blue, which was selected for a robe for Queen Charlotte in the early 19th century.
Enough history. Guys, what if I told you that royal blue is the official color of three NHL teams? Yup, the NY Rangers, Toronto Maple Leafs, and St. Louis Blues all sport royal blue as their main color. Hockey colors at your wedding, now we are getting somewhere.
